Position: Finishing Tech I (2 positions)

Department: Finishing

Reports To: Finishing Mgr.

Shift: 12-hour rotating

Pay: $17.64

POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the Finishing Supervisor, this position is responsible for assisting in production per the department leaders' instructions. Customer specifications and requirements must be satisfied while ensuring that quality and expectations, both internal and external, are met. Responsibilities also include the ability to work with others in a team environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Must work safely at all times, following all Plant and Division Safety rules and policies.
  • Perform all functions in accordance with specified safety procedures and designated PPE (personal protective equipment).
  • Maintain all company health and housekeeping GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) standards.
  • Minimize waste, improve efficient use of materials
  • Recognize printing imperfections.
  • Operate all models of doctor machines.
  • Wrap pallets of finished goods.
  • Understand use of roll manipulator and how to set for weight differential.
  • Proficient at performing quality splicing according to customer specifications.
  • Must demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Operate forklift as required.
  • Maintain organized and clean work area.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to the spirit of total quality and continuous improvement in performing the essential job functions of the position.
  • Performs other duties assigned or as the situation may dictate.
  • Work overtime as required.
  • Ability to work independently and with others.
  • Regular attendance required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: High School diploma or equivalent (GED) required. Ability to follow directions and complete assignments in a fast-paced environment. Ability to maintain logs/records in a legible, accurate and timely manner. Ability to accurately use a ruler to perform measurement and must be able to perform basic mathematical functions. Must demonstrate desire, ability and initiative to advance in progression. Must adhere to high standards of professionalism when dealing with co-workers on a daily basis. Must have or be willing to obtain certification to operate forklift.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Physical Demands: Heavy work requires exertion of up to fifty (50) lbs. of force occasionally, up to twenty (20) lbs. of force consistently and up to ten (10) lbs. of force constantly to move/lift objects vertically and/or horizontally. Keying data into computer requires repetitive hand/wrist motion. Employee mounts and dismounts from forklift constantly.

WORK CONDITIONS SPECIFIC TO THIS POSITION: Work performed in the plant is in areas near operating equipment and chemical usage; appropriate training, including right-to-know training is provided. Atmosphere may contain fumes, odors, dust, etc. Noise levels fluctuate according to proximity of operating equipment. Refer to Flexible Packaging Division Safety Rules for specific PPE requirements. Appropriate safety equipment is provided.

Candidates must have no attendance or performance issues within the last six (6) months
