Responsibilities

A factory manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of a manufacturing facility, from overseeing production processes and managing resources to fostering a culture of continuous improvement and delivering high-quality products to customers. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, leadership skills, and strategic thinking to effectively manage operations and drive business success.

Responsibilities:

Operations Management:

  • Supervise all aspects of the manufacturing process, ensuring adherence to production schedules and quality standards.
  • Oversee inventory management, including procurement of raw materials and optimization of stock levels.
  • Implement and refine production procedures to maximize efficiency and minimize waste.
  • Monitor equipment performance and maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and ensure safety.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead and motivate a team of production staff, including supervisors, operators, and maintenance personnel.
  • Provide guidance and support to employees, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, identify training needs, and facilitate professional development opportunities for team members.

Quality Assurance:

  • Establish and enforce quality control measures throughout the manufacturing process to uphold product standards.
  • Collaborate with quality assurance personnel to address issues and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.

Health and Safety Compliance:

  • Promote a safe working environment by enforcing safety protocols and procedures.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections, identify potential hazards, and take corrective actions to mitigate risks.
  • Provide safety training to employees and ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.

Budgeting and Cost Management:

  • Develop and manage the factory budget, including forecasting expenses and monitoring spending.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements to optimize resource utilization.
  • Analyze production data and financial reports to identify trends and make informed decisions.

Customer Relations:

  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to understand customer requirements and ensure timely delivery of products.
  • Address customer inquiries and concerns, striving to exceed expectations and maintain customer satisfaction.
  • Seek feedback from customers to identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to enhance product quality and service.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging innovation and implementing best practices.
  • Lead or participate in cross-functional teams to identify and implement process enhancements, cost-saving initiatives, and quality improvements.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and technological advancements to remain competitive in the market.
, Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree is required
  • 7+ years in a manufacturing environment; experience in automotive, aerospace, or marine preferred
  • 3+ years of leadership experience
  • Experience with Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing principles and programs
  • Proven experience in manufacturing management, with a track record of success in optimizing production processes and driving operational efficiency.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate cross-functionally.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail and a results-driven mindset.
  • Proficiency in budgeting, cost analysis, and performance metrics tracking.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards, particularly in areas such as quality control and occupational health and safety.
  • Exposure to P&L statements, preferred
  • Familiarity with manufacturing technologies and software systems, such as ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) and MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems), preferred.
