Embedded and PCB Engineer

The person hired for this position will support and grow the Ecolab Dishmachine Program (EDP). This role in RD&E supports our industrial dishmachines program comprising machines ranging from small undercounter style machines to large continuous operation conveyor machines. In this position, you will lead and execute a variety of engineering projects with a focus on new product development and commercialization of new dishmachines or dishmachine system technologies. Work involves development of innovative digital & electromechanical systems, firmware and embedded systems development, component and fabricated part design, reliability and performance analysis, integration testing, transfer to and support for manufacturing, regulatory certification, project management and collaboration with cross functional business partners. This Embedded and PCB engineer role will develop designs, proofs of concept, and applications that support Ecolab's digital transformation within the IoT domain. You will be part of a dynamic team and utilize a variety of technologies to solve Ecolab's most advanced IoT problems. What You Will Do:

  • Develop new innovative platforms that meet strategic business needs and protect Ecolab's market leading position.

  • Develop code, support architectures, document designs, and create Proof of Concepts to develop applications that create Ecolab's dispensing and IoT equipment system

  • Work with team members to integrate software and hardware developed by other Ecolab divisions

  • Work with software team members to integrate full stack IoT end node solutions

  • Participate in SCRUM/Agile software development process

  • Work with product owners to define and document User Stories including Acceptance Criteria

  • Apply DevOps practices to efficiently work with Ecolab's multidisciplinary teams

  • Interact with various customers (internal and external) to identify needs and gaps in the current plans and portfolio.

  • Lead and support cross functional teams in development of new product offerings.

  • Communicate plans and progress to broad group of business leaders.

  • Plan, lead, and execute new product development projects.

  • Test, evaluate and analyze equipment solutions to determine or prove performance and reliability.

  • Develop and document specifications based on key performance criteria.

  • Create estimates for components and systems cost and reliability.

  • Identify and evaluate technologies that may advance the performance and reliability of existing and new products.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Software Engineering and five years of relevant work experience or masters and 3 years of relevant work experience.

  • Three or more years in C or C++ in embedded firmware development

  • Experience in Microcontroller-based board/application development

  • Experience with embedded RTOS and bare-metal development

  • Experience in serial communication protocols, such as UART, SPI, I2C

  • Experience with CANBus

  • Effective oral and written communication skills, organizational skills and attention to detail. Experience leading projects or project workstreams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience using Altium Designer or equivalent.

  • Experience in electrical component selection, high voltage and low voltage PCB design, communication protocols such as CANbus and Modbus, over the air communications, mobile app development and cloud data management etc.

  • Experience working with regulatory bodies and standards such as UL, ETL, FCC, NSF

  • Experience with digital solutions, hardware and software product development

  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently as well as with others while handling multiple tasks or projects.
